This will be strictly a Resource Fair planning meeting.  Please email dartmouthsepac@gmail.com if you plan to volunteer on the day of the fair.  {location TBD}

January 28: "Bringing Loved Ones Home" Community Search & Rescue Presentation
Dartmouth Police officers Affonce and Fonseca, members of SEMLEC, will discuss what to do if your loved one goes missing and the programs to assist in locating a loved one with a cognitive impairment.
 
February 23 RESCHEDULED to March 3rd at Dartmouth High School at 6 pm:
"Meeting the Mental Health Needs of Students in School"
A representative from the Parent Professional Advocacy League (PPAL) will do a presentation that will give parents/caregivers a foundation and the steps to build on in order to advance their advocacy skills.  Topics include: how to identify, document and communicate your concerns, evaluations, support plans, team meetings and letter writing with the focus on the student's emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges and the supports that students may need to access the curriculum and life of the school.
****We will also begin accepting responses for the Annual Survey****

March 31: "Intro to Friends"   Jim Ross, of the project "Widening the Circle"
(Formerly the Real Friends Project) will host this workshop all about the value of and learning about resources for helping students with and without disabilities establish relationships & friendships.
 
April 26: Hello to Spring! Family Fun Night
Children will be able to choose a craft to make and take home.

May 26"Basic Rights in Special Education" presentation
Whether you are a new or seasoned parent of special education, per regulations, we provide this yearly workshop to educate and refresh our minds as to Parents basic rights in Special Education.
 
June 14 - End of School Year Family Fun Night
Children play games and supervised gross motor play while your parents enjoy connecting with other parents.  We'll present our 1st annual SEPAC recognition awards. (***)

All Dartmouth Special Education Parent Advisory Committee meetings are held at the James M. Quinn Community Room, 529 Hawthorne Street, from 6:30-8:00pm, unless otherwise noted.  The dates and scheduled topics are listed above.  Some evenings will be open discussion. We welcome all ideas and thoughts. 

* We often recruit peer volunteers to help at family fun night.  We provide certificate for service hours but ask that you register your child with us prior to the events.  Please email dartmouthsepac@gmail.com


**Each year we conduct a parent satisfaction survey.  We always welcome input about enhancing the questions asked.  Any suggestions should be directed to dartmouthsepac@gmail.com or call Kathleen at 508-207-3015.
